Hydraulic calcium silicate-based materials are used for numerous applications in dentistry. They are primarily used as a root-end filling materials and for repair of root perforations. Their bioactivity and biocompatibility have increased the applications to use as pulp capping material and for pulpotomy and apexification procedures. The various uses makes these materials come in contact with tissue fluids, blood, restorative materials and other environmental factors. The calcium hydroxide is reactive and interacts with the different environmental factors within the oral environment.
